I decided to go with a minimalistic, colourful approach to draw attention to the product and the strapline as well as keeping a light-hearted aesthetic. I took cues from Gumbies’ existing marketing material, such as the use of Open Sans typefaces and two-tone layout, to create a brand-cohesive design. I noticed their the recent Easter promotion shows a move to a brighter palette and the use of block colours instead of product photography which I tried to be consistent with.
I think it is important to highlight the sustainable nature of the shoes as it is a significant part of the value proposition. I expressed this through the strapline “Kind on your feet, Kind on the planet” and stamp design, which also has connotations of travel. In keeping with Gumbies’ brand identity of freedom and adventure, I kept the design spacious and bold which also reflects the simplicity of the shoe.
